「今日中」「今週中」「今月中」など期限を表す英語表現は日常生活でもビジネスシーンでも頻繁に使われます。締め切りや納期など重要な場面で使われることも多いため誤解を招かないようにしておきたいたいものです。
今回は期限を表す英語表現の様々な言い方について見ていきましょう。
today / this week / this month
今日中に / 今週中に / 今月中に
一番シンプルな表現です。前置詞は何もついていませんが「今日中」「今週中」「今月中」を意味します。この他にも "tonight" は「今夜中に」、"this morning" は「今朝中に」など、普段よく使う簡単な英語で「〇〇中に」を表すことができます。
I'll finish my homework today.
(今日中に宿題を終わらせます。)
今日レポートを終わらせるということは、今日中にレポートを終わらせると同じ意味になります。よって "today" のみで「今日中」を表すことになります。
You should pay the rent this week.
(今週中に家賃を払った方がいいよ。)
今週家賃を払うということは、今週中に家賃を払うことと同じ意味にまります。よって "this week" のみで「今週中」を表すことになります。
We'll launch a new project this month.
(私達は今月中に新しいプロジェクトを立ち上げるつもりです。)

by the end of the day
今日中に
ビジネスでも日常生活でもよく使われる表現です。直訳すると「今日の終わりまでに」になりますが、意訳すると「今日中に」になります。
- by the end of the week - 今週中に

- by the end of the year - 今年中に

今日中に
「今日が終わる前に」という意味から意訳して「今日中に」となります。"out" の代わりに "over" を使って "before the day is over" でも同じ意味になります。

within + 期間
〜以内に
"within the week" や "within this week" で「今週中に」と使う人もいますが、基本的には "within + 期間" や"within + 時間" で「〜以内に」のように使われることの方が多い表現です。
- within 3 hours - ３時間以内に
- within a day - 1日以内に
- within 5 days - 5日以内に
- within a week - 1週間以内に
- within a month - １ヶ月以内に
